Bolton Smith assists domestic and international clients navigating their most complex litigation matters, focusing on commercial, corporate, and securities disputes. He is well-positioned to advise clients on pre-litigation resolution, motions practice, discovery disputes, and litigation risk. 

He also has a strong pro bono practice, focusing on representing amici curiae in civil rights cases in both federal and state courts. 

Prior to joining Hogan Lovells, Bolton worked as an associate at an Am Law 10 firm in New York, where he focused on commercial litigation. Bolton also worked as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable James C. Dever III of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of North Carolina. While attending the University of Virginia School of Law, Bolton served as an executive editor of the Virginia Law Review.

Represented global shipping company in corporate law action in the Republic of the Marshall Islands, obtaining pre-trial dismissal of all claims.*

Advised natural gas company on internal investigation related to breach of fiduciary duty and securities allegations.*

Represented company in employment termination dispute with former executive, successfully winning dismissal of all claims.*

Represented gaming company in mass individual arbitration actions.*
