Employment law developments in 2026

The Employment Rights Act finally became law at the end of 2025. For employers and their advisers, 2026 will be spent getting to grips with the changes taking effect this year and preparing for further changes in 2027. However, there’s plenty more on the horizon. We’re also expecting a draft Equality Bill, reforms to non-compete agreements, a consultation on employment status, and reviews of parental and carer leave entitlements.
